1. How do I cancel a Camping/Lodge Reservation?

You must call or email the Parks Department main office administrator before the cancellation policy ends on your reservation. Requests must be made to the Parks Dept. before 4:00 p.m. M-F.

2. How far in advance can I book a lodge?

11 months in advance to the check-in date. Lodge reservations must be made online.

3. When do the campgrounds open?

Jordan Park, Lake Emily, and DuBay campgrounds open May 1st. They all close on October 31st.

Collins Park open May 15th.  Collins closes on October 1st.

4. How far in advance can I reserve a campsite?

11 months in advanced to the check-in date. 

5. What is check-in and check-out time for campsites?

3:00 p.m. is check-in and check-out times at all of our campgrounds. 

6. What are the occupancy hours for the lodges?

Check-in time is 8:00 a.m. There are no early check-ins. Check-out time for the lodges is 11:00 p.m.

7. What are the Dewey Shooting Range Hours for 2023?

May 6th-July 30th: Saturday and Sundays 1-5

August 1st- October 19th: Saturday and Sundays from 1-5; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-6pm.

October 21st-November 5th: Everyday 10am-4pm.

November 6th-November 17th: Everyday 10am-6pm

November 17th- May 1st (2024) CLOSED.

$5.00 daily gun/archery fee. 

8. When do I receive my lodge security deposit?

Lodge security deposits are typically returned by check to the address that is on your reservation. Checks take between 3-4 weeks to arrive. 

If you WILL not be recieving your security deposit back, you will be notifed by phone from the Assistant Director. 

9. How do I reserve a campsite?

Camping reservations can be made online 11 months in advanced but NO later than 7 days in advanced. If you want to arrive sooner than 7 days, you MUST arrive at the campgrounds to find an empty site to self-register at in-person.

Portage County Parks only makes reservations for Handicap sites (HC).

10. How do I modify my reservation?

By calling 715-346-1433. Modifications must be done before the cancelation policy ends.

11. Can I check-in early at my campsite?

You may check-in earlier than 3 p.m. on the day of your arrival as long as the previous occupants have left the site. 

12. Can I do same day reservations?

There are no reservations made online or over the phone with less than 7 days in advanced.

For same day reservations or any other day sooner than the 7 day notice, you have to show up in-person at our campgrounds and self-register as a first-come/first serve for any open site(s).

13. Can I have my dog off-leash in the Parks?

No. The only place in our Park system where dogs are allowed off-leash is at the Speckmann Dog Park at Standing Rocks. 

Pets are allowed in the Parks but MUST be leashed at all times and have dog bags present.

Pets are not allowed at any beach/swimming areas, picnic areas, inside bathrooms and showers, inside any lodges, or on any groomed ski trail.
