Evidence-Based Health Programs

Evidence-Based Health Programs help older adults and adults with disabilities improve their health and quality of life. These programs are researched and proven to create long-lasting, healthy behavior changes. They also provide a social outlet for participants to connect with their peers and make friends.

The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Portage County offers a variety of evidence-based exercise classes and workshops. Some of our programs include:

  • StrongBodies™ - This class helps people build strength and improve their balance.
  • Arthritis Foundation Exercise - This class helps people with arthritis stay active and manage their pain.
  • Fun & Fit - This class helps people increase their range of motion while decreasing pain and stiffness.
  • Healthy Living with Diabetes - This workshop helps people learn how to manage diabetes for themselves or a loved one they care for.
  • Stepping On for Falls Prevention - This workshop helps older adults reduce their risk of falls.
  • Mind over Matter: Healthy Bowels & Healthy Bladders - This workshop helps women over 50 manage incontinence.

New programs are always being evaluated and added to meet community health needs.
