The Dewey Shooting Range located six miles north of Stevens Point, Wisconsin is just one of 24 areas managed by the Portage County Parks Department. This 319-acre area not only has a public shooting range but also a public hunting area. The Shooting Range is adjacent to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources 6,000-acre Dewey Marsh.
The range was developed in 1986. It provides a safe facility for firearms target practice and field archery.
Ranges vary from 5 yards to 200 yards that accommodate handguns, shotguns, rifles, and muzzleloaders. In addition, we have an archery range that includes both 3D and bag targets.
Possession or discharge of any fully automatic gun or machine gun, loading or discharging any firearm deemed unsafe by the range master, or loading or discharging any firearm with armor-piercing or incendiary ammunition is prohibited.
Young shooters (ages 10 to 15 years of age) are only allowed on the range with their parents or legal guardian.
