Wisconsin state employment information for disabled veterans' non-competitive appointments can also be found on the State of Wisconsin website. Veterans must be at least 30% disabled by the U.S. DVA to apply through this program. The search page for competitive jobs provides an opportunity to search for jobs by county, category, or agency.

Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD)Veterans Employment Assistance

The State of Wisconsin Job Center has a Veterans Webpage where you can enter your military occupational specialty to find employment related to your military experience. The state website also provides a resource for veterans with links to various benefits, tools, and programs. The Department of Workforce Development provides veterans employment services and has jobs posted for companies throughout Wisconsin. The job search function will allow you to search by job title, city, or category.

The DWD Veterans Employment Services also has a Veterans Employment and Services Representative who will work with veterans on their job search, application, and interviewing techniques. The Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) for Portage County is Nancy Brown. She works out of the Marathon County Job Center located at 364 Grand Avenue, Wausau, WI 54403.

The DVOP Office of Veteran Employment Services Pre-Screen Form (PDF) is necessary to determine eligibility for the program based on disability.

Federal Jobs

The Federal government publishes their positions online at USA Jobs Website. Locally jobs in the federal government are part of the Transportation Security Administration, US Department of Agriculture, Veterans Clinics or Hospitals, the FAA, or work at federal institutions like Oxford Prison, Fort McCoy, or full-time employment with the National Guard or Reserves.

Local public positions at cities, colleges, and counties are also posted from time to time. These jobs will generally appear on the State DWD website. Some internet job boards may also post open positions. To find Internet job boards you can search the Internet using your favorite search engine for jobs there will be several for you to choose from.
