Scheduling a Ride
To schedule a ride to your VA appointments, call the DAV Van reservation line at 608-504-1313.
Reservations are on a first come first serve basis. Please contact the DAV van coordinator as soon as your appointment is scheduled to ensure you have transportation, but not later than two weeks before your scheduled appointment. Because there is only one van, the first reservation will determine where the van goes on any given day. All the drivers are volunteers and we cannot guarantee one will be available on short notice.
The van runs Monday through Friday and is scheduled based on demand. The van only goes to VA hospitals and clinics. The van has gone to VA medical centers in Tomah, Madison, and Milwaukee as well as outpatient clinics in Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau, Green Bay, and Appleton.
The driver will call veterans to schedule a pick-up time and will plan the route accordingly. There is only one van so the first person who calls directs which VA medical facility the van will be going to on that day.
Portage County Central Transportation
Central Transportation is also available for veterans needing a ride to a VA appointment. Arrangements may be made through their office by calling 715-343-6307. This service is based on drive availability so please call early.
