Service Connected disabilities are disabilities determined by the VA to be an injury or illness that was incurred or aggravated during or due to active military service.
There are three fundamental requirements for a claim. First, there must be a diagnosis of a chronic condition, second the injury or illness must have begun while in service, and third the chronic condition must be linked (have a nexus) to the veteran's service.
For information regarding service-connected disabilities where the VA had determined there is a presumption of exposure to toxins in the environment that may have caused an illness, check out the links below.
Each year on December 1st the VA will update the disability compensation rates that become effective on December 31st. If you are receiving a disability and wish to check on rates for the upcoming year you can view the VA Disability pay rates.
Veterans with a 10% rating will qualify for National Parks and Federal Recreationally Lands annual pass. The pass is called the America the Beautiful Pass.
