The 2024 program runs from March 1st to November 20th by appointment only, Monday through Friday 8 am to 2:45 pm. Call 715-346-1931 to schedule.

Items accepted include automotive, garden, workshop, or household products labeled as toxic, caustic, poisonous, flammable, combustible, etc.

Fees: $0.75 per pound. Exceptions: Mercury is $3 per pound, 1 pound minimum. Latex or water-based paint is $1.50 per pound.

Latex or water-based paint is not hazardous, but it must be solid before throwing away. Fill a half-empty can with OilDri or cat litter and mix completely. It should look like dry, lumpy oatmeal. After 2 to 4 days the paint should be solid and ready to be thrown in the garbage with the lid off.

Agricultural Hazardous Waste

If you are an active farmer, owner of agricultural land, nursery, orchard, or greenhouse in Portage County, dispose of unused/unwanted hazardous waste. Heavy equipment is not available to unload material.
