PCDSA Fundraisers & Grants

The Portage County Deputy Sheriff's Association (PCDSA)is not officially affiliated with Portage County and is its oGarbage Bag Saleswn charitable organization recognized by the State of Wisconsin. It is organized and operated by the Portage County Deputy Sheriff's Association (PCDSA).

Garbage Bag Sales

The Portage County Deputy Sheriff's Association (PCDSA) very popular Garbage Bag Fund Raiser happens all year long.

  • Cost: $40 per box with 70 bags each

Garbage bags are available for pickup at the Sheriff's Office during normal business hours or by calling 715-346-1400.

Proceeds benefit Portage County programs such as youth-oriented soccer, football, baseball, softball, Special Olympics, Project Graduation, Christmas is for Children, College Scholarships, Cops n' Bobbers, and Portage County Passenger Safety Association. PCDSA has also purchased video and computer equipment for local schools.

PCDSA Concert Series

The Portage County Deputy Sheriff's Association usually hosts a tribute concert held at the Theater @1800, located at the Sentry Insurance headquarters. Examples of past performers include Tim McGraw, Johnny Cash, Shania Twain, Journey, Bon Jovi, and Neil Diamond. The PCDSA always receives very positive feedback on the concerts. Youth Activity Grant

Grant Overview

The Portage County Deputy Sheriff's Association (PCDSA) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the youth of Portage County. As part of our mission, the members regularly donate money to worthy organizations and causes in and around the area that primarily benefit children. This application is the main tool used to sort out all of the requests for funding from the many worthwhile causes and groups that make requests for funding.

The PCDSA supports these donations through many fundraising activities, such as garbage bag sales, concerts, and member dues.

College Scholarship Application

The Portage County Deputy Sheriffs Association (PCDSA) will be offering scholarships to full-time students graduating in the Spring of 2023 from any high school in Portage County to encourage educational growth. All applicants will be considered, but those pursuing careers in Criminal Justice or related public service fields will be given higher consideration.

Application Information

Applicants must:

  • Attend a high school in Portage County
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Provide a copy of their high school transcripts

Applicants, please explain the following in a typewritten essay:

  • Tell us about yourself.
  • What career do you want to pursue and why?
  • List and explain any extracurricular activities and/or community activities in which you were involved while attending high school.
  • Why do you feel you are deserving of this scholarship?

All information must be received by March 17, 2023, to be considered. The next application window will begin around January 15th.
