Inmate Visitation
Inmate Visit Procedures & Rules
Personal Visits (Friends & Family)
Inmates at the Portage County Jail may be visited by friends and family using our video visitation system. Visitation may be conducted remotely, meaning from your home or practically anywhere else, or you may choose to visit them on-site at the Jail. In-person "face-to-face" visits are no longer conducted in order to enhance the safety, security, and efficiency of the facility.
Proper conduct and decorum are required during your visit. All non-attorney visits are subject to recording and monitoring. Any violation of jail rules or law will be prosecuted, and future visitation privileges may be lost.

In-person Professional Visits
These may occur Monday through Friday from:
- 8:30 to 11:30 am
- 12:30 to 4:30 pm
Professional visits are not accepted around meal times. All visits are subject to cancellation or delay without notice due to the safety, security, and operational needs of the facility. In these cases, every effort will be made to reschedule your visit.
Please Note: Professional visits from attorneys and other professionals have now been moved from the previous "close contact" visits to a face-to-face secure "non-contact" format. This was done for the safety and security of the Jail and those individuals visiting the inmates. Professional visitors will be allowed to visit with inmates using a secure visitation booth. A document pass-through feature will be unlocked to facilitate the exchange of authorized papers as needed. Probation and Parole agents are still allowed into the facility. For everyone else, there are no longer any close contact visits allowed.
