The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has Discontinued COVID-19 Community and Transmission Levels.
With the expiration of the public health emergency for COVID-19 on May 11, 2023, reporting requirements and authorizations to collect certain types of public health data have expired. CDC's COVID-19 Community Level and Transmission Level maps were derived in part from data sources that were discontinued. CDC will continue to monitor COVID-19 usable sustainable data sources.
Monitoring the impact of COVID-19 and the effectiveness of prevention and control strategies continues to be a public health priority during the transition from the emergency phase of the COVID-19 response to routine public health practice.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) is evaluating guidance and communications related to this change. We will share more information as it becomes finalized.
