Emergency Medical Services Division

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division is responsible for managing and administering the County's EMS program, including ambulance service and emergency medical responder support.

Portage County maintains a blended emergency medical services (EMS) system that provides quality life-saving care to our citizens and visitors alike. The Sheriff's Office manages and oversees the County's EMS system in order to provide quality management, support, and integration into our other emergency response services.

The County's EMS system consists of advanced life support ambulances, supported by a network of emergency medical responders, reinforced by trained citizens, all orchestrated by a highly skilled and integrated Communications Center. Coordinated at the County level, together this high-quality team provides the finest in pre-hospital care.
